The Format option looks for any of the types you pick, i.e. if you select "Book" and "Video" the list will contain both types. If you leave these boxes blank it'll list all formats.

For Faith and Topic, items must match all the boxes ticked - i.e. if you pick "Christianity" and "Judaism" only items that cover both faiths will appear. If you leave these boxes blank it'll list all faiths/topics.

The Text box lets you enter any word or phrase, then searches for it in the titles and descriptions of resources. This is handy if you want to jump straight to something more specific than the tickboxes cover, but obviously will only work if we've put those particular words in the entry. Again, this is cumulative with other search criteria you put in, so it may be best to clear all the tickboxes first (e.g. searching for "Quaker" with "Hinduism" ticked tries to satisfy both and fails).

It's best to identify the key points for your search and leave the other boxes open. (Note: if you launch a query with no boxes ticked it will select all items in the catalogue. At around 4000 titles this is a lot for a browser to handle, and might cause problems.)
