Exploring Places of Worship Locally

In 2010 The RSresource Centre was successful in obtaining a grant from the then Community Development Fund. These films of places of worship were used with the Faith Experiences the Centre used to deliver in schools.

When The RSResource Centre ceased offering these experiences in 2025 the decision was made to make the films available for use in schools about helping young people understanding of what you find in places of worship.

We were grateful to the faith communities assisting in creating these films which are for educational use. These films show the places of worship as they were in 2010.

Though we no longer offer the faith experiences subscribing schools can borrow books, posters and artefacts from the six major faiths. Visit the catalogue to borrow items.

Connecting religion to life with primary pupils: Belief and Community Action

There are also five films which were made by children from different Nottinghamshire primary schools with Notts SACRE to highlight how local faith groups support those in need in Nottinghamshire showing how people’s beliefs can lead into positive action within our communities.

This innovative, local, and unique project enabled young people in years 5 and 6 to investigate, at first hand, social justice programmes organised by different faith communities in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, finding out about their work and connecting this to religious beliefs and practices.

These projects were visited by a group of young people from one of five different schools. The young people planned and conducted their own interviews with staff and volunteers to create the film and other resources about a social justice programme run by a religious organisation in their locality. These are now a learning resource which Nottinghamshire SACRE agreed can be shared.
